More About the Breed...

History

The Exotic is often referred to as the "lazy man's Perian" as it has the same personality and body type but with a shorter coat that requires less attention. One of the most famous Exotic's is Garfield the lasagne loving cartoon cat.

 Size

They are a medium size cat with short fur although the fur is longer than other short haired breeds.

Personality

The Exotic is playful and affectionate and is said to be more active that the Persian.

Health

Like Persians, Exotics are prone to several health issues usually related to their facial structure. Among these can be:
Breathing difficulty
Eye infections and tearing
Kidney disease

Care

Their coat needs grooming once or twice a week to remove dirt and shedding fur.
Excessive tearing can be an issue leading to staining of the coat, so eyes should also be wiped daily.

Children and other pets

Exotics are good in households with older children and they can live with other quiet pets but not with a dog that chases them.
