More About the Breed...

History

The Ragdoll Cat is a relatively new breed developed in the USA in the 1960's. They got their name as they go limp when they are picked up and petted.

Size

They are a large cat but not overly muscled with a medium length silky coat. It is a pointed breed with the colour usually having developed fully by the age of 2.

Personality

The Ragdoll is a very social, cuddly and docile cat and loves nothing better than sitting on a lap. It does not require a lot of exercise.

 Health

Ragdolls are prone to weight issues so portion control and regular paly is important.  They can also be prone to bladder stones and heart disease (HCM).

Care

The coat is silky and so not as prone to matting but it should still be groomed twice a week to remove dead hair and dirt.

Children and Other Pets

Ragdolls with their social nature are great for families and will co-exist with other pets.
